Ban on Non-Competes Overturned!

Last week on Tuesday August 20th, a Federal Court in Texas overturned the FTC's ban on non-competes. This means employers can continue using non-compete agreements next month just like they have used them in the past.

Although the FTC's rule is dead, individual state laws may still ban or restrict non-competes (such as California's state-wide ban), so be sure to double-check the local laws where your employees are working.

While it is possible the FTC's ban could be revived on appeal of this decision, you can rest assured that Employer-Lawyer will keep you up to date on any changes that occur in the future.
